The Experts in Health & Safety Training

What is CITB?

CITB stands for the Construction Industry Training Board. It’s an organisation in the UK that specialises in providing training and qualifications to those in the construction industry. They provide construction workers with the skills, knowledge and competence to be able to operate safely on construction sites.

CITB offer a wide range of health and safety courses that support both employers and individuals in the construction sector. One of its key focuses is providing comprehensive training courses that cover various aspects of the construction industry including health & safety, technical skills, management and leadership.

Why should I take a CITB course?

Most construction sites require all workers to have a CSCS (Construction Skills Certificate Scheme) card. To acquire a CSCS card, an essential step is completing an CITB 1 Day Health and Safety Awareness course. This course is a mandatory step towards gaining an industry-recognised qualification and demonstrating competence in health and safety practices within the construction sector.

The CSCS card is widely recognised and respected by employers, contractors, and clients in the construction sector. It serves as a crucial requirement for gaining access to construction sites and helps employers verify the competence of their workforce. Holding a CSCS card not only opens up opportunities for employment but also improves safety standards and contributes to a more professional and skilled workforce in the construction industry.

Who should take a CITB course?

CITB courses are suitable for everyone in the construction industry, from apprentices to site managers, everyone needs the skills and knowledge that they provide.

Whether you’re an entry-level labourer, skilled tradesperson or experienced construction worker, CITB courses provide valuable information relevant to your role. If you intend to work on a construction site, you must have a CSCS card, and successfully completing a CITB training course is a crucial step to gaining one.

CITB courses are also suitable for site managers and supervisors. CITB courses offer specialised training courses for individuals looking to move into supervisory or managerial positions. These courses focus on leadership skills, project management, risk assessment, and legal responsibilities. If you aspire to advance your career into a leadership role within the construction industry, a CITB course can provide you with the necessary skills and qualifications to excel in these positions. When applying for a supervisory position, having a CITB qualification will put you above those who don’t.

If you’re an apprentice, a CITB course is a perfect way to build a base of foundational knowledge and skills that will impress your employer. We offer CITB courses that are perfect for beginners with little to no experience in construction or health, safety and environmental industries.
